    Finishing Last Day of Ministry

The team is finishing up their last day of ministry in Zim.  They will be packing up for an early start in the morning.  Right now you can pray that they are able to get gear packed and loaded.  That they will have a time for fellowship and goodbye's.  They will be heading to sleep in a little while so pray for a good nights rest.  Before you go to sleep tonight please pray for their traveling safety to the game park.  They will have a long dirve, Road Blocks, Border Crossing.  Pray they will have no issues and be moved through quickly.  Pray for protection as they travel.

Thank you all for your prayerrs they could not do this without you and neither could the families at home.

    Blessings, Lisa

heard from Team Zim Sunday morning

The Team is doing well, as last mentioned they had finished with church, had a special Lord's Supper service, presented certificates to the Pastors, and Kenny preached the message.  They were to have a celebration meal, the Cheif had donated a goat for the meal in their honor.  It is night for them now, pray they get plenty of rest, tomorrow is their last day of ministry which might include anything seen in the photo gallery.  So pray tonight before you go to bed for their ministry that day.

Thank you all for praying, Tobey says it has been the best trip, amazing ministry, touching, meaningful.

    Praise the Lord!

    Sunday Services

Sunday Services should have winded down by now.  The team is possibly have a meal at this time.  I am sure for them it has been an exciting and moving day.  They probably taught Sunday School, lead worship, preached at least one message, they were having the Lord's Supper Service and presenting the newly trained pastors their certificates.
I have not heard from them since Friday afternoon but as we said before to hear from them at all was a miracle in itself.  Tomorrow they will be doing community ministry and completing any needed training issues.  They will be home the end of the week so keep praying for health, safety, rest, endurance, ministry, and their families at home.  Remember too those Pastors who have been trained.  Many of them will be leaving to go to new places of ministry and preaching the gospel to the Shangaan.
    Praise the Lord!

    Pray and Praise

Below is a blog post for the Prayer site that my daughter did.  We really try to keep this site basic and general.  I thought I could include her update yesterday on this site safely. I hope it helps you all get a better picute of how this trip might be a little different, how there is such a peace surrounding it, how importiant it is to pray.

Thank you all for your faithfulness.

    Pray and Praise

I am curious if ya'll can feel the excitment of our group? It is different knowing how all is there and being able to talk to them almost daily. I love when we have a trip over there because like mom said yesterday, there are experiences that they have that can never be explained, but we at home have them too! I can not say how many precious memories I have of being able to intercede blindly and relenquishing all my Trust into the Lord knowing that He knows why I am praying and how the words just keep flowing. I want to encourage you to keep it up. I have such a peace about this trip and have not had a peace like this at all. I am so excited to see and hear about what the Lord has done.
Like mom has said, I was part of the first trip and to this day have not even begun to process the fullness of that trip, but while there I was aksed to share my favorite verse and why it is my favorite verse. The verse I shared was Ecclesiastes 3:1 "for everything there is a season a time for everything under the sun." The family I shared it with related to that verse in ways I could not have imagined. They were so ready to hear the encouragment that God has a time for all things a time for the good that will always come after the bad. That the Lord will be right there with you , when it is hard or unbearable.
I left part of my heart in Zim and there is a little girl and an amazing woman of Christ that I will see in Glory one day. Until then I urge you to keep the Faith and be excited for when your loved ones come home. Read the excitment in their eyes and hear the words that they may not be able to express, and know that there is a "time for everything under the sun".

    another word from Zim

Got another call from Zim.  It takes about 8 calls to get in a minute of conversation but I am just amazed that they have service at all.  Keep praying for the wives here at home.  It is hard for them not to hear their husbands voices.  Please keep praying for them.  It really is harder being the one at home than the one on the Team.  It is also a blessing.  I think it makes us more in tune with the Lord and more focused on praying for those "on mission".

Anyway, the Team are all still well.  No issues with illness and everyone has adjusted to the fluidity of ministry expecially in the bush.  They have seen lots of ticks so please pray no one is bitten especially pray for Rusty, he cannot take the med the others are to treat the tick bite so pray especially that he is not bitten.  Take it from one who knows they do not want African Tick Bite Feever.  Been there, done that!

They are settling in their tents for the night and will complete the training tomorrow night.  Pastor Kenny will be preaching on Sunday morning for the church, the Pastors will be given certificates, and they will all have the Lord's Supper together.  There could be as many as 1000 at this service.  Remember to pray for this before going to bed Sat night.  The service will start about 9am and go till noon or 1:00pm Zim time, that is 1am to 5am Co, 2am to 6am Tx time.

The have had many small group opportunities, Justin has been leading worship, and all have seen many "God things" as Tobey put it.  They have all been moved by the ministry work in Zim.  Pray that God will continue to bless and protect those who serve him.

    God Bless!

keep praying for Pastors Training and Team

It is about 7pm in Zim, the Team will have probably had a meal and are teaching their last session for the day.  Pray those men beign trained will have clear understanding, that questions will be answered, that they will comprehend all they learn and apply it to their ministry.  Pray the will be equiped to do God's work.  Pray for the conditions under which they are teaching and learning.  Pray they can see and hear well.  Pray for the teams continued strength and health.  Pray for our church staff here at home as those remaining accomplish the daily tasks.  Your contunued prayers for the families left at home, some are traveling this holiday weekend and some will stay home but all need your continued prayers.

    THANK YOU ALL!

    call from Zim

Got a call from Tobey, he said all is fantastic, all are well.  They did some school ministry this am, played games.  Pastors trainin started this afternoon, using headlights to teach.  Actually training 32 Pastors.  Pastor now has 100 churches, 22 added since Jan, 48 total added in last 6 mo. PRAISE THE LORD!

First Day of Training comes to an end

TEAM ZIM BBCJ is winding down their first day of training unless they continue after supper for a session, small group sessions or possibly even a worship service.  Please continue to pray for the team, pastors, and family here at home.  I can tell you from always being on the other end that staying home is harder!  Ok well, maybe not but when you are there where God has called you to go to do his work it just seems easier than staying behind.  Yes, I wish I was there but I know God called me to stay home for this one to encourage and support those others left behind.  My precious new daughter, my youngest son's bride emailed me this verse last night.  She too has been to Zim, and this time sends her husband while she stays home.  It has been one of my favorite verses my entire Christian life, may it encourage you all at this time.
    Philippians 4:6-7
"6do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Remember our job at home is to pray them through this trip.  When you think of them or any issue just pray for it.

    God Bless

    Hal - Teacher
Jim - Sunday School Director, Teacher
Justin - Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, student

    PASTORS TRAINING ZIMBABWE MAY 18-29.2009

Our commitment to the Southern Baptist Convention of Zimbabwe and the Shangaan People is to TEACH, EVANGELIZE AND DISCIPLE.     With each trip there have been pastors, missionaries, laymen and women who have worked along side of us and learned new ways to reach their people.     We have developed and employed items that are relevent to their culture like using witnessing soccer balls, evangescarves, and story cloths.     Another area we are trying to help is by training Pastors.     We use the Baptist Faith and Message which the SBC Zimbabwe has adopted as a guide.     This trip we will train 18 new Pastors and 7 previously trained Pastors will re-take the training.     These are men coming straight out of their culture, communities,  and tribes who God is raising up to be his leaders among the Shangaan.     The convention Pastors work with theses men in continuing training and we come in for indepth work on specific topics.     This training will delve into Security of the Believer, God's Call, and include some trust games.     Backpacks with Training Notebooks, pens, pencils & sharpeners, notepads, evangecubes, books, bibles, and evangescarves will be taken for each of the 25 Pastos being trained.  Soccer balls, Story Cloths, and many other supplies will be taken as well.     Please  pray for Team Zimbabwe as they teach these Pastors.  Pray for the pastors that they will have clear understanding and practice what they learn as they lead their people.
Most importantly we want God to be glorified and these men to be given tools that will help them win their people and country to Christ.

Updates will be made to this site during the trip so you can check the teams progress and find ways to pray.  Everything will be generic with no mention of names and locations for security purposes.

    Bible Story Cloths

    NEEDED:  Bible Story Cloths

Bible Story Cloths are the perfect evangelsim tool for Zimbabwe.  Since the Shangaan People are traditional story tellers the use of these "story cloths" is a natural way to teach Sunday School or Bible Studies.  The cloths have squares from creation to the assention of Christ.  There is one story block for almost every week of the year.  Because they are cloth they are durable and easy for the women and men to take with them for evangelsim and lessons.  $10.00 can purchase one of these cloths and if you want to help even more you could add the border and backing as mentioned in the file "How Can You Be A Part Of Mission Zimbabwe" under Bible Story Cloths.  We could use 100 of these cloths so please tell your fiends, family, Bible Study Groups, and Sunday School Classes.  The form in the file gives you instructions to order the cloths, make the borders, and how to send the cloths or funds for the cloths.

Thanks for your help and please be praying about the January trip mentioned below or one of the other 2009 trips.

    January Pastors Training

Ministers and wives are needed for Pastors Training in January 2009
We need a team of 10 - 12 Ministers, Ministers Wives, or those qualified to teach Ministers and their wives for Pastors and Wives Training in Zimbabwe.
Level 1 and 2 will be taught and some curriculum is still needed for Level 2.  Level 1 is complete and follows the Baptist Faith and Message.
Please contact Lisa ASAP if you might be interested in impacting the lives of the Shangaan People through training their people who serve.

Funding to cover the Zim Pastors and Wives expenses is needed as well.  We expect costs to run about $2000.00 for their lodging, meals, and transportation.

Please pray about being a part of the amazing work that is being done in Zimbabwe.

    Blessings, Lisa

May 2008 Trip a Fantastic Success

What at Trip!  The May trip was changed a little to ensure the safety of the team and those we would be serving.  I must confess that I was disappointed at first because I was so looking forward to moving deeper into the Shangaan area.  As usual God had someting even better for us and I am greatful that I was a part of this ministry work.  The Team God put together was so perfect that ministry just flowed.  It was a real joy to be part of and the students from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary under Tim's leadership did an amazing job of serving and ministering.  As a resutl of the ministry from this trip we have identified areas of focus for the next trip.

Please remember to Pray for the People of Zimbabwe over the next weeks.  They will once again be voting for a President on June 27th.  Your prayers at this time are much appreciated by the people of Zimbabwe.

Please pray about the next trip and how you can be a part of Mission Zimbabwe.

    Blessings, Lisa
